BWFC Women in their sponsored kit

Beginners, past or current players are all welcome. Although aimed at women 40+, those under 40 who for any reason feel that the usual running game is not for them are also very welcome. Current members are aged from late 20s to late 70s. Contact Heather beforehand, or just turn up. Meet from 7.15pm for a warm welcome, lots of fun and a friendly, gentler version of football!

  • "Everyone has their own fitness and skill levels and are a mix of ages 40’s, 50’s, 60’s (me ), but we are all walking so it does not matter and the girls are so much fun and so welcoming" JH
  • "Much as I enjoy playing in a mixed team, there's something special about a women only team, and I thank you for making that possible" HS
  • "I was worried at first I was not fit enough and it would mean meeting new people and was I any good!!! None of that mattered. It’s fun!" JH
  • "Everyone is very welcoming. We are all kinds of different ages and abilities. I have definitely noticed my back, my hips and my stamina improving" GD
  • "The club has been so enthusiastic and supportive of starting a women's section. Stepping on the pitch, you leave all of life's problems behind and just have so much fun. Best of all, I have a new, wonderful set of footie-mad, kind, caring and supportive female friends" ED
  • "the coaches are very encouraging, supportive, patient, and friendly, as are the whole group. I’ve had a great time, making new friends, learning how to play, while improving my fitness" KB
  • "Everyone has put a lot of effort in to form these sessions, and every group is filled with welcoming, supportive, encouraging and enthusiastic people that make you want to play and return. I think we should be very proud of what has been achieved in such a short time" CS

Sessions are aimed at all abilities and consist of a welcome/get-together/chat, warm up, some coaching and a friendly game. You are welcome to join in with the entire session, or sit out parts if you prefer.

There are opportunities to play in friendly and competitive matches against other women's walking football teams, including in the Hampshire and Dorset leagues, National Cup games and one-off tournaments. We have game opportunities for all ages, including hosting friendly games exclusively for over 55s from different clubs. These women’s matches are often held on Sunday afternoons.

All club members are welcome to join in with the club’s mixed social games held on Friday mornings, and there are other opportunities to play mixed social games with our ‘development’ group. Join us on a Friday! First session FREE! Come and try it!

The club is affiliated to the Football Association and the Walking Football Association (WFA). The club follows the WFA's ethos to ensure all sessions are played safely with full consideration of every participant’s age, gender and ability.
